Good Friday Way of the Cross

Please join us on Good Friday, April 18th, at the Newman Center for 10:30 am, hosted by Communion and Liberation. We will be starting the stations of the Cross in front of the chapel and ending at noon at St. Basil's Church.

Applications for our Student Campus Ministry team are still available!

All Catholic students entering or continuing post-secondary education are invited to consider becoming part of the Student Campus Ministry team at the Newman Centre. You will live in community with other students, witness to your faith through Catholic chaplaincy outreach, participate in the liturgical life at Newman, and be provided with a platform to grow in holiness and develop solid Catholic leadership skills.  Your partially subsidized residence fees include a private room and shared or private bath, food and utilities.

Deadlines to apply are April 15 for the Summer term (May-August) and May 15 the Fall/Winter term (September-April).

Holy Week Hospitality

Help continue to make Newman Centre a welcoming and prayerful community throughout Holy Week! During Holy Week we are looking for volunteers to help us with Hospitality during the Liturgies. This would involve greeting people, seating them and ushering. 
 
 
 
The Liturgies we need help in are: Palm Sunday (11 am Mass and 7 pm Mass) 
Holy Thursday (7.30 pm)
Good Friday (3 pm) 
Easter Vigil (10 pm) 
and Easter Sunday (11 am)

Social Justice Event with Sr. Mary Rowell

On Sunday, March 30th, Sr. Mary Rowell, C.S.J. of Regis College will be presenting at the Newman Centre. All are invited to hear about the social teachings of the Church at 12:45pm in the Cardinal Newman Room.

Lectio Divina with Cardinal Collins

At St. Michael's Cathedral, Vespers (Evening Prayer) will be prayed at 7:00pm, followed by by Lectio Divina from 7:30 - 8:15pm. This ten part series delves into the first six chapters of the Gospel of Mark. The next Lectio Divina will be held on Sunday, April 6th. We will be reading in Mark 5:21-42 the story of the daughter of Jarius.

 

World Water Day: Saturday, March 22

Regis College's workshop on the theological significance of water will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scientific, theological, and spiritual perspectives will be presented by author Alanna Mitchell, professor Dennis O'Hara and Jesuit priest, John McCarthy, S.J. St. Francis and the Sultan Movie Screening

On March 18th at 6:30 pm at the Newman Centre, all are invited to come and view the movie, "St. Francis and the Sultan". Afterwards, there will be a panel discussion with both Catholic and Muslim representatives, as well as refreshments. 
 
This event is offered in partnership with the Intercultural Dialogue Institute.

New Vocation Series with Fr. Graas

Are you interested in hearing more about the meaning of vocations? Curious about discerning what God's plan is for your life? Come out on Thursday in March (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) to hear great talks from Fr. Cris Graas and a Religious Sister. Topics will include an introduction to discernment, priesthood, religious life and marriage.
