Q. To start, could you please tell us a little about yourself?
Sure! I'm 32 years old, and I have lots of home towns across Canada (my Dad was in the RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police], so we moved a lot when I was young). (...)

Where Faith Meets Family

TORONTO - In Toronto, it’s easy to find classes for first-time parents aimed at raising happy and healthy children. “However, finding one with a faith focus was a challenge,” said new mom Racquel Sevilla.
To meet this need, Sevilla and fellow new parent Esther Eiling contacted Fr. Chris Cauchi, pastor at the Newman Centre on the University of Toronto campus, about launching a Raising Faith- Filled Kids discussion group. Using the book of the same name by Tom McGrath as a guide, the 12-member group met weekly for six weeks before wrapping up at the end of May.

Newman 100 Celebration: June 9, 2013

On Sunday June 9, 2013, we will commemorate the Newman Club’s 100 years, which began in the 1912-13 academic year at the University of Toronto.  You are invited for the 11.00 a.m. Mass of Thanksgiving with the Most Reverend William McGrattan (auxiliary bishop of Toronto), Fr. Chris Cauchi, and past chaplains Fr. Michael Machacek and Fr. Thomas Rosica CSB.  Afterwards we'll be having free food, entertainment, activities for children and fellowship.  An open house and history exhibit are being planned to showcase our rich history and the charm of the Matthews House (commonly known as the Newman Centre).  Newman memorabilia will be on sale at cost (water-bottles for $5.00 each and t-shirts for $5.50 each).  A similar celebration will take place after the 7.00 p.m. Mass.

Catholicism Series

The Newman Centre will be screening the 'Catholicism' series, a 'Word on Fire' production in 10 episodes illustrating the beauty, goodness and truth of the Catholic faith. Join us for journeying with acclaimed author and theologian Fr. Robert Barron to more than 50 historical locations throughout 15 countries around the globe. Be illuminated by the spiritual and artistic treasures and learn more about the Catholic Church.

Starting on June 5th, every Wednesday at 7pm will be played a different episode of about 50 minutes. Discussions will follow, to deepen the understanding.
